But first, let’s talk about what great interview clothes look like.
Make sure you start with a simple rule: would I wear this in front of my grandma? If yes, you’re on the right track, if not, start over and follow our tips!
For The Ladies:
A blazer is a no brainer and always looks great during an interview, but what to wear underneath? Look for light, flowy tops with a higher neckline. It’s okay to add a pop of color in the top, but try to keep the blazer (the biggest part of the outfit) a more neutral color for your interview. Take a look at the outfits below f
or some inspiration. Note, in the second image, the girl is wearing a pink blazer – that’s a great way to add color in a blazer if you want. It’s light and neutral and isn’t competing with a brighter color shirt. Also note that in the third photo,
she isn’t wearing a blazer. Don’t think you’re restricted to uncomfortable blazer life! Pairing a clean, professional top with dress pants and nice shoes is also acceptable.
There are two options: pants or a skirt. Here are a few things to keep in mind. First, yoga pants are not dress pants no matter how hard you try. The quality is low and tight pants are not the answer here. Go for dr
ess pants or a straight cut legging. As for skirts, go back to the middle finger rule from high school – and then add a few inches. The highest your skirt should go is right above your knee. Lucky for you, longer skirts are definitely in style for this summer! Just make sure your skirt is
neutral, professional, and subtle. As cute as tulle skirts are, they’re probably not interview material. Look at the options below for some inspiration.
The Shoes & Accessories
Stay low and stay neutral. Again, steer clear of flashy pieces; you want the attention on you, not the shoes or necklace. Also, closed toe shoes are a must – don’t show up in sandals no matter the heel height. The options below are great examples of professional pieces while still allowing you to have your style.
For The Guys
You guys are easy! Stick with a nice button up or collared shirt with nice pants or khakis and you’re golden! Also, be sure to have nicer dress shoes or boat shoes to replace your Sneakers! Check out some ideas below! It’s not always necessary to have a tie, but it’s definitely a plus if you do!
Feeling inspired to go out and get a great interview outfit to knock your interview at Nextt out of the park? Stop in to apply for the best summer job you’ve ever had!
